Washington, DC -
Just days after Bush signed the Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2005, Republicans and Democrats are calling for a Bush apology for his insulting of the entire Defense establishemt, and specifically our "Armed Forces."

Bush claimed that all those receiving money through the appropriations process, including the Pentagon and all branches of the military including the troops, "...never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people...."
Sen. John McCain was the first to jump on Bush's statement and demand an immediate apology saying the President's statement,
Should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they (the troops) suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night.
Event Right-Wing stalwart (and raging drug addict) Rush Limbaugh demanded an immediate apology from Bush.
Bush was up there flailing around and claiming that our own soldiers want to 'harm our people and country' and attack us just like the evil-doers. Mr. President, why do you think our soldiers are evil doers!
However, pollsters think the damage is already done. 24 hour news stations like FOX, MSNBC and CNN have spent nearly all their broadcast time in the last two days covering the scandal and some claim, giving a boost to the Democrats.
Bush's staff released the entire transcript of his prepared statements, but regardless of what Bush meant to say, it is clear what was actually said.
Third, this bill meets our commitment to America's Armed Forces by preparing them to meet the threats of tomorrow. Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.
