Things are certainly getting interesting here in South Dakota.  Today, the campaign for healthy families was holding a peaceful protest and the pro lifers were out in full force to disrupt.  They brought their vans with grotesque images of dead babies plastered on them to the rally.  Then they stood on their van, in full military fatigues and bull horns and screamed at the pro-choice protesters.  It was really a dispicable sight.

These are the supporters of Mike Rounds.  Mike Rounds has done absolutely zero for the citizens of South Dakota except for tie up our tax dollars in this idiotic abortion ban.  Thankfully, South Dakotans have a choice on November 7th.  Jack Billion is really running an amazing campaign that is focusing on the issues that matter to people - the economy, education & health care.  Jack had a great press conference today where he went through all of Rounds' campaign hype and shot every single point down with facts.  I will be posting footage from the press conference later.  In the meantime, Jack has a new ad out.  You can watch it here:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    Any polls on this one?

$88.94 for Larry Kissell would make all the difference in the world.

I just watched the ad - he reminds me of my great uncle!  I love that guy!

Best of luck on Tuesday, South Dakota.  I'll have my fingers crossed for you and will be watching the results coming in.

has been way off.  They did release a poll a little while back that had Jack down 20 but of course the polls do not touch the Native American population at all - they make up 10% of the population and are all democrats.  The good news though from the poll is that in the two months since the last one Mike Rounds spent $2 million and went up 1 point.  Jack spent 1/4 as much and has gone up 9 points.  The poll was also conducted before the big debate where Jack wiped the floor with poor mike.  Mike has pretty much disappeared over the last week and is just hoping to wait it out and let the pro-lifers push him through.

One interesting piece of information is that Mike just released his campaign finance documents and he has over $800K CoH.  It is clear that he is saving that up for a 2008 challenge to Tim Johnson.  We must stop him now before he brings his right wing agenda to Washington.

Some supposedly safe GOPers are gonna lose. The electoral is in a wicked pissed off mood about Iraq. Now there is a big dose of national Dem Iraq ads being aired. They are going to do some damage, especially with late deciders and Independents.

Hopefully Mike Rounds is one of those that loses.

  •  Billion, Rounds, and the Abortion Ban (0+ / 0-)

I hope that people wake up soon.  If the abortion ban gets overturned in South Dakota, Mike Rounds, the Republican governor, has stated he would try to bring it up again.

If Rounds wins, South Dakota remains the battleground for women's rights.
