I want to add my plea to the one from
Red State Rebel to those of you with family and friends in Idaho. Her information is pertinent to those who live in Idaho's 1st Congressional District (the western part of the state) and I'm wanting to contact the other half of Idaho in the 2nd Congressional District (the eastern part of Idaho).
Idaho Republicans may feel the need to vote for Mike Simpson because of party loyalty--but they need to look a little deeper into who Simpson is working for...
Here is a peek in to how others view Simpson's voting records:
- Rated 22% by APHA, indicating a anti-public health voting record.
- Rated 10% by the ARA, indicating an anti-senior voting record.
- Rated 27% by the NEA, indicating anti-public education votes.
- Rated 30% by CURE, indicating anti-rehabilitation crime votes.
- Rated 5% by the LCV, indicating anti-environment votes.
- Rated 13% by the ACLU, indicating an anti-civil rights voting record.

Now, the issues listed above may concern us "bleeding heart liberals" more than the typical conservative. But how does the typical conservative feel about our troops? Wouldn't they expect a good Republican to support our troops and our veterans?
For 2006, DAV (Disabled American Vets) gave Simpson a rating of 66%.
(For 2005, Simpson rated a zero...)
IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) gave Simpson a "C".
Rep. Simpson voted to continue awarding contracts to Halliburton even if the Pentagon's own audit processes found that more than $100 million of their contractor's costs in Iraq were unreasonable.
He opposed expanding access to the military's TRICARE health insurance program to thousands of Reservist and National Guard members.
He voted against granting a $1,500 bonus to every American service member serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, including National Guard and Reserve forces.
So Mike Simpson doesn't work for teachers, seniors, college students, our troops, -- who DOES Simpson support and work for?
Mike Simpson supports big business, oil and gas industries, drug companies and GOP power players, not Idahoans.
I will repeat RSR's plea to all of you:
If you have friends and family in Idaho, please do what you can to be sure your Idaho loved ones have the truth before they vote tomorrow. Due to the lack of media coverage, I really don't have any idea what the polls are saying about the ID-02 race, but I firmly believe that if Idaho citizens were AWARE of who Simpson truly represents, then they would think twice before re-electing him.
The Idaho media has not given much attention to the race between Rep. Mike Simpson and Jim Hansen. It seems that just because Jim Hansen promised to accept no campaign donations over $100, the MSM has written him off as a nonviable candidate. However, those who have met him throughout Idaho have seen that Jim is serious about representing Idaho citizens and not Big Money Special Interests Groups.
Please encourage your friends and family to check both candidates out before going to the polls...
