Has it really been almost a year since the last
SeattleKos Not-A-Meetup? (photos by dinazina, of course) That long a break for one of dKos's pioneering "let's get together for some brews" groups cries out to be corrected.
Which we're going to do very, very soon -- this Saturday evening, November 11, probably starting around 7pm.
Details coming up, below the fold...
Come one, come all, to this Saturday's SeattleKos Not-A-Meetup! Hear all about mcjoan's epic drive up, down, and all around the Mountain West! Spin your own yarns about your GOTV efforts, for Darcy Burner or Claudia Kauffman or Rodney Tom or Maria Cantwell or Derek Kilmer or ... or ... Share stories from the field or from the office!
We'll get together to toast our victories or to drown our sorrows, or both. We'll reminisce about YearlyKos in Las Vegas, look forward eagerly to next summer in Chicago, talk about the outlook for the 110th Congress and the 2008 presidential season. IOW, it'll be another great SeattleKos Not-A-Meetup.
This Not-A-Meetup will take place at a different location from our previous ones. I've exchanged email with a friend of a friend who's on the board of directors of the locally-owned Elysian Brewing Company. He enthusiastically agrees with me that their newest location:
Elysian Fields
542 1st Ave South
Seattle WA 98104
would be a superb place for our get-together. The brewpub is just northwest of Qwest Field; although the address is 1st Avenue, the main entrance is actually on Occidental Ave, facing the stadium. As my friend describes it, Elysian Fields is a large space, easily partitioned into semi-private sections. There'll be room for us to hang out together, no matter how many of us show up. So let's make this a big crowd!
You'll be pleased to hear that the people behind Elysian Brewing are politically aware and politically active (on our side, of course). Pete, the fellow I've been communicating with, was on the executive board of Seattle's 36th District Democrats a couple of years ago. As he notes in his email reply to me,
Elysian's ownership and board will be very receptive to having DailyKos meet at EF.
In fact, it's quite likely that Pete will join us for at least part of our Not-A-Meetup. I have the feeling that Elysian Fields, or perhaps another of the Elysian brewpubs, might become a permanent site for SeattleKos Not-A-Meetups.
I'll have more information for you in the next few days, both here and via our SeattleKos mailing list.
