This is a primal scream of hope and optimism. Just an inconsequential piece to express how I feel about our mutual enterprise.
A couple of recent overview polls appeared to give the Rethuglicans some hope. As a prominent example, Pew Research, in Republicans Cut Democratic Lead in Campaign's Final Days released a major poll that gave the Democrats a four-point advantage among likely voters and was essentially a puff piece for Repubs' electoral prowess.
More below.
Well,
CNN comes along and throws serious cold water on that idea.
A couple of choice quotes:
A majority of Americans said issues such as the Iraq war, the economy and terrorism would head in the right direction if the Democrats won control of Congress on Tuesday, according to a CNN poll released Monday.
A majority, 58 percent, said that a Democratic Congress would move the economy in the right direction, compared to 43 percent who said a Republican Congress would help the economy, according to the telephone poll of 1,008 adult Americans, which was carried out Friday through Sunday by Opinion Research Corp.
Fifty-four percent of respondents said a Democratic Congress would move the Iraq war in the right direction, compared to 34 percent who said a Republican Congress would do the same.
According to this poll, the Rethugs don't even own the terror issue:
Fifty-three percent said a Democratic Congress would move the country in the right direction on the issue of terrorism, compared to 47 percent who said that a GOP Congress would do the right thing on terrorism.
Dueling polls. CNN's MOE is 3%, while Pew's is 2.5%.
I'm sorry, but we need to think positive going into tomorrow.
This time we're going to do some damage to the Republicans. I feel it in my gut. Bush is getting a serious wake up call. CBS News radio just announced a poll that showed Tester up by nine points. Of course that's a very anecdotal example - but CAN YA FEEL IT?
I have never seen so many mass media outlets so positive about Democrats chances since Bush got into the White House. (Notice I didn't say elected.)
I'm not counting any chickens, But I am optimistic going into tomorrow.
Go forth and conquer, Kossacks!
