Bill Clinton to campaign for Jerry McNerney Tonight!

Mad rush here, so please forgive the brevity as well as my lack of expertise in posting a diary. (I'm not seeing this in the list.) I think I don't need to explain why I personally feel this is one of the biggest challenges our party faces. Pombo must go!

        for the write-in campaign. And hey! Jerry's still here. My phone minutes this week are previously committed to phone-banking with my county's Dems GOTV effort.

        But you GO ronlib! ...and maybe...just maybe I can fit in a bit more calling (mulling here)

        Can I say this while I'm still here? I am so proud of, and grateful to, ALL of those Bay Area Dems who actually travelled to District 11 and put their boots on the ground for McNerney (esp those fearless ones who put their boots down in that Blackhawk area)

    Jerry McNerney. This REALLY raises his profile at a time when the Rethugs have committed yet MORE money trying to save the bleeding Pombo.

    I've contributed four times to McNerney but unfortunately can't do any canvassing. But having the Big Dog there is just incredible. This could be a turning point. I will be keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed.

  All of the momentum is with Jerry.  Now the Cook Political Report declares the race a toss-up and Bill Clinton comes in to fire up the troops.  GREAT NEWS.

  BTW, Jerry has a goal of raising $2 million for the campaign.  At present, he has raised $1,995,363.  He has been going up about $30,000 per day, so today should be it.  It would be great if the netroots pushed him over.  One last time??  http://actblue.com/...

        ...whining that he's hitting two cities in one night that happen to be less than 100mi apart is pretty lame. I'd love it if he supported Lamont. But I'm super-excited that he's supporting McNerney, who is someone I've put a lot of time and money into, and it makes me cranky to see someone raining on my parade here.

        And I'd bet good money he HASN'T been home in that time.

  Woof!  How times have changed and how much Jerry has worked for that change.  There was a time when Jerry couldn't get recognition and the CW was that he was "Quaint and Quixotic" in his quest for CA-11. The DCCC had another candidate in the primary.  Now the Big Dog is coming to campaign for him.

•  Tracy Press protects it's ad lines

  As I predicted, the Tracy Press endorsed the Evil Dick Pombo. They pretty much stand alone on this endorsement. The Stockton Record, Modesto Bee, Sacramento Bee, San Jose Mercury News, Morgan Hill Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and even The New York Times have endorsed Jerry McNerney. The Contra Costa Times gave a lukewarm endorsement to Pombo.

  The Tracy Press's editorial was unabashed in it's support of the Congressman. It read very similarly to many of the attack ads I have received from the NRCC. They answered a couple of the scandals (not all) plaging Pombo but completely left out the national scale of the election. While they brought up McNerney's personal finances, they completely ignored Pombo's use of campaign contributions for personal family gain. That is almost what I figured they would write. They want to protect their ad revenue. Pombo Real Estate is a pretty big advertiser and this editorial will only grow the relationship.
