Well, I don't find it anywhere in the US news yet, but it looks like the US has pulled back from Najaf. According to

in Norwegian, based on a Reuters report:
Colonel Dana Pittard, leader of the 2500 soldiers from the Third infantry, says that the American forces surrounding Nafaf will be pulled back during the next day, to be replaced by 2000 troops from a tank division who will continue to maintain a watch. "This means that we'll wait to go and take al Sadr", said Pittard.
