Brothers and sisters, let us pray* for all people, for all nations, and for the church, offering silent thoughts and meditations as appropriate.
I ask your prayers for the community, for all who run for office or work as civil servants, for our local communities, and the global community. Pray for the beloved community.
I ask your prayers for God's church, for all who serve it, for this incarnation, and for all God's people everywhere, that they may live up to the highest standards of peace, tolerance, and generosity. Pray for the church.
I ask your prayers for the good earth, that all people may respect its resources, preserve its future, and enjoy its fruits in their season. Pray for the soil and the sea.
I ask your prayers for the leaders of the nations, that they may act deliberately and dispassionately, and for the good of all. We pray especially for those newly elected to office this past Tuesday, that they may not repeat errors and offenses of the past. Pray for those who govern.
I ask your prayers for peace, that all the peoples of the world may live in safety and without fear. We pray in particular for Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Somalia. Pray for peace.
I ask your prayers for the wealthy, the free, and the healthy, that they may use their possessions to aid those in need. Pray for compassion among people.
I ask your prayer for the sick, the sorrowing, and those who are alone, especially Gene F., who may have had a stroke; Norb S., struggling with emphesyma; Ruth R., recoving from the flu; Mark, on chemo; Travis and Kristine; Armen and Arlene, and many more we hold in our hearts tonight. Pray for those in any need or trouble.
I ask your prayer for the departed, especially Ed Bradley and those killed in Iraq in the past week, that God give them eternal rest. Pray for those who have died.
O Holy One of all living, hear the prayers of your people, and grant our requests. Strengthen us for the tasks you give us, and bring us at last to peace and forgiveness for one another.
