In Baghdad, the people want their ID's tattooed on them.
A recent news item: Unidentified bodies are accumulating so fast in Baghdad that authorities are just photographing and burying them, hoping that some day the dead can be identified by the photos. Fearing that fate, men have been having their names and phone numbers of contacts tattooed on their thighs.
The greatest atrocity of the twentieth century is associated with guards tattooing serial numbers on the arms of people being held in death camps. Six (five?) years into the new millennium, we've stumbled on a way to get people stuck in a death camp called Baghdad to go get their ID's tattooed on voluntarily.
What progress.
