So big was the Republican mess-up, that a religious conservative group in New York's 19th district, decided to drop their traditional support for the Republicans, and to support John Hall, one of the most progressive democratic candidates in the country. Their decision not to vote for incumbent Sue Kelly, and to support Mr. Hall instead, was the main reason that she lost.
But little did the Jews in the enclave of Kiryas Joel, NY know, that for their support for Hall they will be branded as terrorists and enemies of our country.
Kelly - who refused to concede until now - and her cronies, retaliated with a nasty smear campaign against her ex-supporters, including a sign that one personal Kelly friend and owner of a lumber posted in front of his store, comparing the religious conservatives in Kiryas Joel to the Al Qaeda Terrorists. To see pictures of the sign check out the blogs of New york Daily News and the Observer
Seth Arluck, The Owner of New Hampton Lumber is a big Kelly supporter and a republican activist for years.
He is also a big shot at a couple of prominent organizations.
Check out my research:
He is the Vice Chair of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association
Check out this link (page 3):

"Seth Arluck, Vice Chair
"Seth is vice president of New Hampton Lumber Co., Inc.,which was started in 1938 and has been a member of the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association since 1980. They are one of the smaller members of NLBMDA, never exceeding $2 million in sales per year. He works alongside his brother, Dennis, and only a few full time full time and part time employees. He is past president of the Mid-Hudson Lumber Dealers Association and has been the legislative chair for many years. He is the first past chair of the NRLA-NY Committee. He has also been a member of the Affairs Committee for several years."
He is a strong supporter of Sue Kelly, as you can see from his letter to the local paper, the Record:
http://archive.recordonline.com/...
"I can't speak for DiNunzio's new congressman, but my representative, Sue Kelly, is actively involved in the district, loves Orange County and certainly listens to and supports my issues."
In an article he wrote for an NLBDMA publication he mentions his close relationship with Sue Kelly:
"I have also developed a good relationship with Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), after volunteering to work on one of her campaigns, and my own Congresswoman, Sue Kelly (R-NY), in whose district I was not originally located."
He was a delegate for John Mccain in 2000 as you can see here (page 10):

(It was before redistricting, so his residence was then in the 20th district.)
