I was just watching MSNBC telling the story about Murtha's line about ethics reform being "total crap." Well, apparently this is just a pathetic Faux News style soundbyte trick. A reporter there, Flavia Colgan contacted Murtha's office and got the real deal.
Murtha did not call ethics reform or the bill total crap!!!!!!
More down there.
I don't recall the exact words, but the quote started out, "It's total crap we need ethics reform in the first place." Murtha's meaning was that he felt people should have ethics already, without a bill demanding it.
Whomever floated this story better step up and clarify their side. Small wonder it was the corporate wing of the Democratic party that's pulling this shit. This is why I can't stand the DLC types (Sorry Wmtriallawyer). They never got after the Rethugs like they go after their own.
Murtha's going to be on Hardball in a little bit, I'll update then.
Update Rep. Jim Moran is on Tucker Carleson right now confirming this, personally. He said basicly the same thing, Murtha thinks it crap that we need laws to enforce ethical behavior. Not that the bill is crap.
Update 2 Murtha just confirmed all this on hardball. He also clarified the whole FBI tape. He talks even faster than Chris, and I'm a two fingered typer, so apologies for no exact quotes. And it's been confirmed by Tweety that Hoyer's people the source of the bogus quote. I'm sure that Crooks and Liars or You Tube will have this up shortly. I'll have a link then. In the mean time, Hoyer's crew can have a nice, pub draught pint of STFU stout on me.
Update 3 Fred in Vermont has provided the link for me. He gets a nice double shot of You Rule, Dude! bourbon whiskey.
