WASHINGTON -- The agriculture department today reported that there is no long
ANY HUNGER in the United States.
However:
Last year, 35 million people suffered food insecurity, meaning they didn't have enough money or resources to get food. The number was 38 million in 2004.
AP's take.
They fail to mention the fate of the three million no longer suffering "food insecurity."
Were they collaterol damage? Did they suffer a final solution from their food insecurity?
AP:
... the report is ... drawing criticism, this time because analysts decided not to use the word "hunger" to describe how hungry people are.
In the report, the terms "low food security" and "very low food security" replace the old descriptions of "food insecurity without hunger" and "food insecurity with hunger." The change was recommended by the National Academies, which advise the government on science and medical issues.
So we can end hunger by ... reclassifying it!
BRILLIANT!
This is big news!!!
Think about it, NO MORE HUNGER IN THE USA!
We should throw a party!
A feast. Especially for the 35 million who have "low food security."
We can have an even bigger party when we classify homeless people as campers.
