According to a rather negative story on page A28 in today's New York Times, James Carville, pariah, is quoted as saying that Dean "should be held accountable" for failing to capture another 10 seats in the House and, noting that the DNC had taken out a $10 million line of credit and using barely half of it, "left money on the table," in this last election. According to the Times, quoting Donnie Fowler, Carville and Democratic Pollster, Stan Greenberg, "wanted all that money to go to Washington consultants and speechwriters and pollsters." Suggesting that Dean should step down, Carville added, "Do we want to go into `08 with a C-minus general at the D.N.C.? I would describe his leadership as Rumsfeldian in its incompetence," he said.
