I am sitting here on this Beautiful July fourth watching C-SPAN and the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. It is now T-2:00min and counting.
I am wondering why exactly we aren't spending more money on our space program. I know that we spend money on our space program, but I wonder how much more we could do, and where we could go with a little bit of money from...Say... the military budget. Think of it like this. Instead of killing people with the money that we spend, we could be furthering the limits of Man and discovering new worlds, possibly traveling to places with vastly untapped and even unheard of resources. We could be finding cures for the world's diseases, more space for our growing global population, and if we are lucky, benevolent life and knowledge that we cant attain here on this planet. In order to do these things we need to further our space travel technology and in order to do that we need money. What costs the most, and yields the least?
