This weekend saw America's first conference on the Far Religious Right and how to resist it.
Also at the conference was annouced www.talk2action.org, a website now being rolled out in stages, dedicated to creating an informed, nationwide community that can work in a coordinated manner to challenge the Religious Right.
Please understand the significance of this. It is for progressives--both secularists and religious progressives--akin to the first strategy conference in 1989 of the Religious Right (and GOP operatives) at Regents University. (Dan Quayle, guest speaker.)
This weekend's conference was sold-out, and a secondary room with a live videa feed had to be set-up for additional attendees.
dKos' own, troutfishing blogged from the conference.
From the Sec.-Gen'l of the National Council of Churches to dKos' own
Frederick Clarkson; from Karen Armstrong, perhaps the world's most popular expert on fundamentalism to Chip Berlet of
Political Research Associates, presenters explained the Far Religious Right and their huge influence on the GOP and President Bush.
I beg of you to recommend this diary. Word on the new site, Talk2Action.org, needs to get out fast.
The next stage for the site is for it to become SCOOP-based. With luck, hardwork (and possibly God/gods/fate willing, if you're a believer of some sort), the site will be much more robust and multi-functional by the end of the month.
In the meantime, if you'd like to be a part of the online community Talk2Action.org is meant to create, go to www.talk2action.org now and send us an e-mail expressing your interest.
THANK YOU! And, if you would, please recommend this diary.
