the impression of the debate between Davis and Dean representing the candidates in the CT senator's primary
If i were to give a 'winner' overall i would give it to Davis.
Spoken calmly and in measure tones and hit hard with undeniable facts.
Dean should have responded to the defenses of Leiberman's record as saying "you know who else endorses Lieberman?" And then mentioned all the whackjob's talking heads and conservative papers endorsing lieberman and the big hire of the young college republicans to work the campiagn for lieberman. That is easy information to use to counter the 90/10% line. Dean could have been more aggressive in his defense in general.
Does this one matter? Yes, 'meet the press' is serious ratings market in CT. And couched after the lying fest od rice dodging hard questions...i am sure some undecided watched today with davis being known well in the area and DFA also being a very active organization in NE.
Also posture was interesting, Dean was leaning into Tim russert's position...that gave him a anxious look his actions later did not qualify. Davis sat straight against the back of his chair, leaning for effect when speaking. That was a much confident speaker at work. Notice that on a few occasions, Dean could not speak directly for Lamont...but davis did not have the problem. He also spoke several times of his own opposition to the war and their disagreements. That was fairly good way to gain credibility with the average vote watching and general public opinion.
Again, i think this was a victory for Lieberman in terms of publicity. I know a few were critical of comments made earlier by a few posters of Kos's own appearence on the same network. This is something to do with experience.
When anyone in the next few days is asked why they support ned lamont. mention something other then war. Mention the coziness of Liebermen with republicans not only in government, but of media attack dogs like hannity and o'rielly. Tell them that someone being so cozy with people who defame everything you personal believe in makes you wonder about the type of man Lieberman is really. Thats the key issue that has been unsaid. Forget the war. Why is lieberman a wealthy man today, why is he the darling of republican noise machines, why did he accuse regular critics of the bush admistration were doing so 'at their own peril'.
After Nafta and big pharma got what they wanted out of Joe; what does 'Joementum' plan on next that will destroy the legacy of the entire democratic party?
We are cleaning house. We needed to do this to prove that it isnt partisan in nature, but a new movement in our democracy to clean out corruption...inside the democratic party as well as outside.
