This past Saturday a group of Minnesota for Dean activists got together to have some fun, debrief from the campaign, and begin thinking about moving as a political organization into the future without a candidate. My partner and I provided a little entertainment. There are enough former Deaniacs on Kos that I thougth people might get a kick out of the two songs we prepared for the occasion:
What I did for Dean (sung to the tune of "What I did for Love" from A Chorus Line
&
His Name Was Howard (At the Caucus) (sung to the tune of "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow)
What I did for Dean
[If you need a reminder of the tune, go to: http://www.theraven452000.addr.com/show6.html and click on the link for "What I did for Love"]
Kiss Iowa goodbye,
New Hampshire's just a memory
Howard, oh, how fast you fell
But I can't regret
what I did for Dean, what I did for Dean
Look my eyes are dry
Of course I'll vote for Kerry
But really that's beside the point
'Cause I can't forget what I did for Dean
What I did for Dean
Gone,
Democracy's not gone
As we travel on
Zephyr we'll remember
Our Meetups we will miss
How will we spend first Wednesdays?
We did what we had to do.
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for
Dean
What I did for
Dean
What I did for
Dean
Democracy's not gone
As we travel on
Mason City we'll remember
I kissed the bat goodbye
My money's gone to MoveOn
But we did what we had to do
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for Dean
What I did for Dean...
His name was Howard (At the Caucus)
His name was Howard, he was a gov'nor
From a very little state where the ice cream's really great
He fixed up health care and balanced budgets
And when we thought we had a star
We came to him from near and far
And then when we got Al Gore we worked from eight to four
We were young and we had our Howard
Who could ask for more?
At the caucus, Iowa caucus
The coldest spot west of Secaucus
At the caucus, Iowa caucus
John Kerry bashin' was always in fashion
At the caucus, we fell in love
His name was Kerry, he had some botox
And he didn't want to learn, `cause he thought it was his turn,
He said to Gephardt, get that Vermonter
But Geppy went a bit too far
Howard was feathered and was tarred
And it was bona fide, a murder/suicide
There was blood and a single gunshot
Kerry stood aside
At the caucus, Iowa caucus
Where played-out Joe Lieberman mocked us
At the caucus, Iowa caucus
Joe Trippi's passion was rakin' the cash in
At the caucus, where did it go?
His name was Howard, he was front runner
But that was seven weeks ago, now he's melted with the snow
Now it's the general, but not for Howard
Even Sharpton's still in there
Past John Edwards and his hair
Now Kerry sure looks fine, Howard is last in line
He lost New Hampshire and lost Wisconsin
`Cause he lost his mind
At the caucus, Iowa caucus
Be careful if you run for office
At the caucus, Iowa caucus
Dennis Kucinich was five feet, two inches
At the caucus, don't do the scream
Don't do the scream...
He did the scream...
