In November, Dean Dozen candidate Virginia Woodward ran against a Republican who didn't live in Kentucky, but Indiana. Woodward discovered this and filed a lawsuit to challenge his candidacy just before the election. Despite narrowly losing, the courts ruled that the Republican was not a vaild candidate because she didn't fulfill the state's residency requirements and that Woodward was the winner.
Various elections boards also ruled in her favor, and she was properly sworn in on January 4th.
But the Stalinist Kentucky GOP decided that since the judges have no police or military units at their disposal, they were above the law and could do whatever they wanted to.
They attempted to seat her opponent to the Senate, but the courts have issued an injunction barring him from performing any senate duties.
The Stalinist Kentucky GOP has not only refused to allow Woodward to take her senate seat, but they have flip-flopped on lawsuits. They are now filing one frivilous lawsuit right after another to deny her her seat.
We need to brace ourselves for more of the same. I suggest that the Ken Blackwell wing of the Republican party will decide that since the judges don't control the police forces, that they can ignore any court orders that they don't agree with. I suggest this will be the next step in the growing insanity that they are creating.
Currently, the case is in legal limbo with little media coverage. The Kentucky Supreme Court has upheld the injunction against the Republican performing any senate activities and sent it back to the lower courts. The Franklin County Court website has nothing scheduled on the docket for this week.
