I know, I know, Dean's still going to take this thing. Right after he makes that secret deal with VP Edwards to transfer his 1200 delegates in April into the good doctor's dowry chest and headlocks Clark into coughing up his 500 carefully picked southern cherries for a sweet cabinet slot. Yes, yes. In the meantime, while we wait for that all but certain eventuality, why don't we all coax ourselves into cautious tractability and envision the shadow administration of our shadow nominee J Forbes Kerry as best we can. Make it easy on yourself. If you can't trust the king with the kingdom, then give him good counsel.
Here's the rules, straight from whitehouse.gov:
The Cabinet includes the Vice President and, by law, the heads of 15 executive departments-the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs, and the Attorney General. Under President George W. Bush, Cabinet-level rank also has been accorded to the Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency; Director, Office of Management and Budget; the Director, National Drug Control Policy; and the U.S. Trade Representative.
And don't forget the National Security Advisor or the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, essential parts of the NSC. I'll go first...
