MN-6: Anti-Wetterling robocalls reported

Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 05:45:23 PM PDT

The Patty Wetterling campaign just sent an email out this evening asking voters to remain vigilant for robocalls in Minnesota's 6th District. From the campaign:

"ALERT: REPORT SUSPICIOUS CALLS TO 763-323-1803

Dear Friends,

We are continuing to receive reports of suspicious robo-calls,
falsely claiming to be from the Wetterling campaign.

If you receive one of these calls or notice other suspicious
activity, we ask you to call the Wetterling campaign headquarters
at 763-323-1803.

This is a very serious matter and your assistance is greatly
appreciated.

Thank you.

With regards,

Corey Day
Wetterling Campaign Manager"

A dKos user and friend of mine -- notapipe -- reports that his Sixth District grandmother has been receiving robocalls. Follow the jump:

Notapipe reports:

"She's been getting robo-calls. Lots of them. Often during dinner. Most of them explaining that they have a message about Patty Wetterling (before she hangs up). This is not an isolated event. The NRCC is spending tons of money on robo-calls that start out seeming as if they are calls FOR the Democratic candidate, so that, if you hang up right away, you get frustrated at the Democrat. But! if you keep listening to the end, it slams/smears the Democrat. Their objective is to either make voters angry at the Democrat or, if listened all the way through, to make voters like the Democrat less."

Bachmann, the state Republican Party, the NRCC, and the RNC need to be held accountable for this unethical and probably illegal action. This is fraud -- plain and simple.

Please help me compile information on this developing situation in Minnesota's Sixth District. Have you been robocalled? Can you corroborate with with evidence? Weigh in and I will update this diary accordingly.

  •  Election fraud would (1+ / 0-)

appear to be rampant in 2006. This is well beyond 2004 scams and vote suppression because it is fraud openly and obviously conducted on a national basis by the national Republican party organization. I really believe that the results should be quashed, the criminals swiftly prosecuted and the election re-run in any district where the calls were made unless the Democratic candidate wins anyway.

We have only just begun and none too soon.

  •  It's the GOP SOTV campaign! (0+ / 0-)

SHIT ON THE VOTE! They're SOTV organization is far superior to ours. (And that's why we deserve to win.)

  •  Thanks for posting this (0+ / 0-)

I didn't even think of posting this to dKos.  Clearly, I lack initiative or something.

Another note about my grandmother: she lives in an apartment complex for seniors in Oak Park Heights, which may be a reason they might have hit her, if they have decided to pick only some numbers to robo-call in the district.  Also, knowing her, it's possible (but not necessary) that, to her, "a lot" is something on the order of 5 calls.  Just trying to be complete in the anecdote.

    Hope will heal us all.

  •  I have a feeling (0+ / 0-)

That a dem who has never, ever, ever voted republican, and who has voted in every single election is not on their robocall list--that would be me...but I can certainly smell the sewage wafting over the 6th district as we speak.

Bachman is RoboBarbie. She's a Steven King short story with a designer skirt. She's a pencil with a wig.
