This one is for you Ann Richards

I sit here listening to the news pouring in about the Democratic victories and I can't help crying. The tears won't stop. It's because Ann Richards is not here with us (she died in September). She predicted we would win before anyone dared say so and shood up for progressive values in a red state when no one else would. Ann Richards predates Dean in this value. Wherever you are Ann, this is your victory as much as it is ours.

  had managed to upset Gov. Goodhair and take back the TX governorship.  Ann would have really loved that.  Chris did make a pretty good showing, though, wiping out Grandma McClellan Keeton Rylander Strayhorn, and Kinky Freidman as well.  Gee, what if all the Dems who threw their support to Grandma and Kinky had voted for Chris instead????????

•  I am touched that you thought of Ann Richards.

  She and Molly Ivins are two of my favorite Texas women.  I did not know her but saw her speak in Reno during the Kerry campaign and she was a tiny little package of dyn-o-mite!  She was smart, funny, and beautiful.  I had admired her since her days as govenor of Texas and she was all I had imagined she would be.  I know she is enjoying this Democratic comeback and is laughing like crazy at all of the difficulties Bush and Rove and their bunch are in for.

  I'll never forget the day that Ann Richards won the Governorship of Texas and the day that she lost it to George W. Bush. The latter day is my first recollection of junior and I disliked him immediately.

  How in the hell did Texas go from Richards to Bush? I still don't understand that one.
