Looks like wingnut radio host Dennis Prager likes to makes shit up he knows nothing about.
A couple days ago the booblehead Prager wrote a column asserting that the newly elected Keith Ellison, a democratic congressman from Minnesota that also happens to be a Muslim was bringing down the foundations of the nation by refusing to swear on the Bible.
Prager bloviates,
"If you are incapable of taking an oath on that book, don't serve in Congress".
Further on he invokes Godwin's Law,
"Would they allow him to choose Hitler's "Mein Kampf," the Nazis' bible, for his oath? And if not, why not?"
Then he goes on to ignorantly opin,
"So why are we allowing Keith Ellison to do what no other member of Congress has ever done -- choose his own most revered book for his oath?"
Of course beyond the obvious unconstitutionality of Prager's stupid ramblings...
Article VI: The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
...according to the Office of the House clerk, the swearing in ceremony only consists of raising your right hand and swearing to uphold the Constitution. The Bible isn't even used.
The real question is when does a blowhard, ignorant, no-talent assclown who can't be bothered to check his facts is qualified to become a legitimate syndiated columnist? Townhall, as usual, has no standards. Wingnuts only need apply. Apparently any crazy prevaricator with a keyboard is a journalist to them.
This comes after Town Idiot Glenn Beck asked Ellison in a T.V. interview a couple weeks ago...
"Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
Morons.
