IS the DLC in bed with the Greedy Oil Profiteers (aka "GOP")?
The Progressive Policy Institute is THE policymaking think-tank for the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC).
So guess who funds the DLC?
Exactly the same group that funds the PNAC!
The acclaimed website Media Transparency lists The Progressive Policy Institute as receiving nine grants totalling $350,000 from 1997 to 2002 originating from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.
Now that's a LOT of pull by the makers of the Bradly tank and many other war weaponry. Obviously war can be a very lucrative business for certain politicians.
The Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) is THE think tank of the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC), founded in 1985 by PPI's President, Will Marshall, who is a signator PNAC neocon letters and http://rightweb.irc-online.org/... counts among its past chairs Bill Clinton and Senator Joseph I. Lieberman.
Why will Iraqmire continue for years to come? Likely because both Republicans AND Dems are sponsored by the Bradley Foundation - major manufacturer of weapons of war.

These neocons not only make Bradley tanks, the profits they make from cluster bombs dropped in Lebanon by the Isrealis allows them to generously finance the following influential think tanks:

Is there any wonder why the overwhelming majority of Dems who voted for Bush's pre-emptive war in Iraq are members of the DLC?
Here's a breakdown on who's in the Zell Miller fan club (aka DLC)...
- Max Baucus is a member of the DLC who was thankfully beaten by John Tester (a real progressive) in the most recent Montana Democratic primary -correction.
(Baucus is the senior Senator from MT. John Morrison was the Democrat whom Tester beat in the MT Senate primary earlier this year. -thanks kossacks for the correction)...
- Joseph Biden was recently honored with the Democratic Leadership Council's "2005 Harry S. Truman Award". You do the math.
- Maria Cantwell is a member of the Democratic Leadership Council.
- Hillary Rodham Clinton is chair of the Democratic Leadership Council's American Dream Initiative who has long supported Bush's "pre-emptive" slaughter of 600 thousand-plus Iraqis.
- Byron Dorgan is a member of the Democratic Leadership Council who also appreciates a good pre-emptive occupation.
- Diane Feinstein is not only a member of the Democratic Leadership Council, she and her husband are apparently making tons of money off Bush's "war on terror"
http://www.counterpunch.org/...
- Although he voted to take out Hussein by any means necessary, Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) is NOT a member of the DLC. As a matter of fact, he was the first co-sponsor to Sen. Russ Feingold’s controversial resolution to censure President Bush for authorizing an allegedly illegal domestic surveillance program.
- Tim Johnson not only voted for the pre-emptive bombing and occupation of Iraq, he also checked his conscience at the Senate cloakroom to vote in favor of the Bush Administration's torture bill and the selective suspension of Habeas Corpus! The Senator from South Dakota is most certainly a proud member of the DLC.
- He may have flipped, and he certainly flopped, either way John Kerry is on record as having voted in favor of the Iraq War Resolution and yes, he is a card carrying member of the Democratic Leadership Council.
- Mary Landrieu from Louisiana is a member of the Democratic Leadership Council who enjoys voting for funding the war in Iraq whenever given the opportunity.
- While Frank Lautenberg isn't card caarrying a DLCer yet, he is in favor of the Bush Administration's torture bill who also happens to believe that Habeas Corpus isn't important enough of a right to protect with a "nay" vote.
- Senator Joseph "Kissyface" Lieberma has twice been chairman of the DLC. Which may explain why he's actively undermined Dems attempts at oversight of war and Katrina contracts and why he's on record as being in favor of Bush's torture bill and against the right of Habeas Corpus.
- Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas is a member of the Democratic Leadership Council.
- Robert Menendez serves in the House Democratic leadership as Caucus Chair who voted with Republicans to authorize Bush's torture bill and who pparently loves war almost as much as he appreciates a good war profiteer.
- Barbara Mikulski voted in 1998 to censure President Bill Clinton for lying about oral sex in the Oval Office but refuses to censure Bush for lying about WMD to get us into Iraq. However, she has not declared any affiliation with the DLC as of this date.
- Senator Ben Nelson is a card-carrying DLC member who voted to give GeeDubya the power to not only bomb whomever he sees fit but also granted Bush the legal right to torture them for as long as he wants without being officially charged.
- And Senator Bill Nelson is yet another member of the DLC who apparently feels exactly the same as Ben Nelson about torture, the war, and the right for the president to suspend Habeas Corpus on a president's whim.
- Mark Pryor feels the same as the Nelsons above and is a DLCer who not only likes Bush's war but loves the torture bill while disapproving of American's constitutional right to Habeas Corpus.
- Jack Reed never voted for the war, and he apparently wasn't so hot on the torture thing either. He publicly endorsed Ned Lamont's run against Joe (DLC) Lieberman, so it's fair to label him as definitely NOT a member of the DLC Bush kissers club.
- John (Jay) Rockefeller voted for the war and then later apologized to his constituency for that vote, calling it a "mistake". But then he recently voted in favor of Bush's pro-torture- anti-Habeas Corpus bill without any explanation. Senator Rockefeller doesn't belong to the DLC, at least not openly. His legacy is with the Standard Oil fortune so he doesn't really need any money from Bradley tanks to bankroll his protection of the family's interests. Although he apparently enjoys the use of their tanks in the mideast as he has voted to fund the war in Iraq at every opportunity. With our money, not his.
- Harry Reid is NOT a DLC member and is vehemently opposed to GeeDubya's torture bill. We'll see how he does in screwing down the war contracts and pulling the troops.
- Colorado's Ken Salazar is a classic DLCer who wasn't in office when the IWR was voted on, but he is pro-torture and for suspension of Habeas Corpus. In fact, he voted both for the disgusting Bankruptcy Bill and for repealing the Estate Tax first time around. And he was the first "Democrat" to let Lieberman know he'd join with Karl Rove and Ken Mehlmen to endorse an independant run by him even if Lamont won Connecticut's Democratic primaries.
- Senator Charles Schumer has blasted the administration's handling of Iraq while simultaneously defending his vote authorizing the war. He is not openly affiliated with the DLC at this time.
