In recent discussions about impeachment, it's been pointed out that removing Bush from office would result in Dick Cheney becoming president. Well, it seems that the pro-impeachment crowd has come up with an answer for that - impeach them both at the same time.
To those advocating that course of action, I have one simple request. Give me the names of sixteen Republican Senators who would vote to remove Bush and Cheney from office, thereby making Nancy Pelosi the President of the United States.
Sixteen is the key number. If we hold all the Senate Dems, plus Sanders and Lieberman, we need sixteen Republicans to vote yes on impeachment to reach the two-thirds majority required for conviction.
So give me the names. And note, saying "Investigations will turn up evidence so damning that no Republican will still support the administration" is not an acceptable answer, because a) it's not certain that will happen, and b) the pro-impeachment crowd doesn't want to wait for investigations anyway (the diary currently at the top of the rec list says that Bush should be impeached solely on the basis of the public actions he's already taken).
So who are the sixteen Republican Senators who will vote to remove Bush and Cheney from office and make Nancy Pelosi president based only on what we already know?
Give me the names. Otherwise, this is all just pissing in the wind.
