In the past, every time gas prices started rising and went up more than 30 cents, the American public would go crazy and be demanding something be done about the cost of gasoline. Within a month or two prices would be lowered. Now the price of gas is going up daily at 2-5 cents and is based upon the price per barrel. But, they are selling you gas from their storage tanks that costs them a lot less. Why isn't the cost of gasoline based upon what the station owner actually paid for it at the time? Then, when the price of oil drops, they take their good old time slowly reducing the cost of gasoline.
More after the jump.............
What bothers me this time about the rise in the gasoline prices is that although the consumer is not happy about the situation, we are being so complacent and just letting the oil companies rack up more profits.
Today Chevron Texaco dusted off it's shelved 2002 plans to drill off Newfoundland. The UAE chose Exxon to be in a partnership with a 28% stake in the OPEC offshore Upper Zakum oilfield. Why am I thinking that there is collusion going on between the Oil Companies and the Oil producers? Why am I thinking that there was a deal with Bushco and Saudia Arabia? Why is no one investigating what is happening with the price of oil? And it can not be a refinery fire alone. We are being screwed!!!! And without the outrage we are co-dependents!!We are letting them get away with this crap once again!
Maybe there are so many smokescreens right now that no one is daring to make waves. Bushco is trying to put so many things over on us on a daily basis and it is keeping us all busy trying to save big items as Social Security. Maybe Bushco is using the old lawyers trick of bombarding us with so much that we do not have time to shout from the tree tops and our cars, "What the hell are you doing to us here?"
When I lived in San Diego, the price of gas was always 50 cents more than it was in Penna. So that means if I am paying $2.27, some people must be nearing $2.75 or more. I would like to hear from some areas of the country as to what you are paying. And maybe some suggestions on how to get our outrage up there again. Please do not go into the SUV controversy, biking to work, or walking. I am not talking about how we can save money by using less gas. I am talking about how we can get the oil prices back in the headlines. Outrage people, Outrage.
