** Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and perhaps share advice. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. :-)
First, THANK YOU SO MUCH to One Bite At A Time who did a fantastic (and fun) job hosting WYFP last week while I was moving into my new apartment. I knew she would though!!
One of my problems is that my WYFP tenure has helped teach me NOT to complain so much--that my problems are not so bad, and that they can be faced peacefully. So, every Saturday evening I sit down and think "okay, what can I complain about tonight?" and it's really hard because I can't stand to see to myself complaining! I tend to feel that I need to let go of whatever is bothering me, rather than write an essay about it. Of course I still HAVE effing problems, but I'm more comfortable listening to other people! I thought I would ask you all your opinions--not about me (I'm often amazed how loyal you guys are) but more about the format of WYFP. Is it valuable for the diarist to "give permission" to let loose with the effing problems by writing a bit of a rant or reflection about their woes? Do you have other thoughts? How can WYFP be better?
Anyway I am pretty happy with my apartment and can't complain about it too much. :-) I am living downtown now and that has been nice so far. I was thinking this place was going to be small (it's an efficiency), but really once I got my stuff in I have found it's the perfect comfortable size for me. It has a few minor problems (it is kind of a quirky old place), but they did a considerable amount of work on it before I moved in and there is a lot in here that is brand new. It is cold and snowy, but this is Wisconsin after all.
I do have some questions that I would really like some help with!!
First, there is a gas stove/oven, which I had never used before. I have figured out how to work the stove but haven't been brave enough to experiment with the oven. What do I need to know about this thing, especially safety-wise?? I am kind of scared of it!
Second, I have my bike locked to a bike rack out back with a good U-bar lock through the front wheel and the frame. But I would appreciate other advice on theft prevention. I'm seriously thinking of spray-painting it or something (when it gets warmer) to make it unattractive to thieves, since I need it for transportation but don't really care what it looks like. This is right near the University of Wisconsin and there are tons of bikes around and probably tons of bike theft. I can't bring it inside because there is no space.
Third, I have been getting so many spam emails lately mocking my small p3n1s that I am almost starting to feel insecure even though I am a happily single female. I'm a spam-blocking minimalist because I would rather keep constantly deleting spam than lose legitimate mail, but does anyone have some anti-spam wisdom to share? :-)
Thank you!!
So, what's your effing problem tonight?
