I just can't stay away from these people, they are funny and intelligent too!
Today i will show you, if i may be so bold, another call for more violence. This time John Hinderaker gives us the reasons why you should invade Iran:
Commandeer a half hour in prime time to tell the American people, and the world, that we have clear evidence of Iran's involvement in killing American servicemen. Show the captured munitions. Explain exactly how they have contributed to American casualties. Display aerial photos of the training camps. No doubt there is much more evidence that can be presented or described.
And i love it when they use history but fail to understand it. I will now take credit for remembering something Hinderaker does not: Colin Powell.
Evidence (pictures) after the flip
So, more war?
Commandeer a half hour in prime time to tell the American people, and the world, that we have clear evidence of Iran's involvement in killing American servicemen. Show the captured munitions. Explain exactly how they have contributed to American casualties. Display aerial photos of the training camps. No doubt there is much more evidence that can be presented or described.
Something like this:
Yeah, that will work. Quite impressive from a guy who has some issues.
Thinkprogress has more re: nuts.
Sadly he doesn't mention the Saudis:
• AP says White House rejects report on Saudi plan to act in Iraq if U.S. leaves
• Source says Saudi king "read riot act" to Vice President Dick Cheney about Iraq
• Saudi Arabia would support Sunnis in Iraq if the U.S. pulls out, the source says
• King Abdullah also is said to oppose talks between the U.S. and Iran
And does someone really believe that the Saudis are not already sending money? If you do, i have a tower in Paris, very cheap..
But Hinderaker has even more fun views, he compares Bush and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain at Gettysburg. I kid you not, he is serious:
It strikes me that you, President Bush, are in a similar situation in Iraq. You know (if many liberals do not) that retreat is out of the question. Yet the status quo is untenable.
And then he makes the claim that is without any real evidence:
Here is how you can do it. In late November, U.S. military sources revealed that they had found irrefutable evidence that Iran is arming the militias who are killing American soldiers:
No names, not even pictures but who cares. Trust them!
It is not like Iran doesn't have influence in Iraq, perhaps even weapons and resources. I just can't trust these guys, they lied about Iraq and lost their credibility. There is a story, boy + cry + wolf.
There has been lot of talk about Iran sending resources into Iraq, evidence has been poor at best. And remember, the neocons would use almost anything, but for some reason they haven't been able to put up a good show.
In the dramatic finale of your speech, announce that thirty minutes earlier, American airplanes stationed in the Middle East took off, their destination, one of the munitions plants or training camps of which you have shown pictures.
And then remember to congratulate Dkos reader ALE for having a wild and passionate night with Jessica Alba. Hey, if he can have his fantasies..
And rememeber, this guy is serious:
A forceful and dramatic conclusion. But that isn't quite the end; instead, in the manner of Columbo
"DOH, I ALMOST FORGOT: I LIED TO YOU ALL"
Something like that?
He also joins the good old "bomb everything" crowd:
Iran must either open all nuclear-related facilities to inspection by an international group headed by the U.S. (not the U.N.), immediately and for the foreseeable future, or those facilities, too, will be destroyed, along with the economic infrastructure that supports them.
Why not the UN? Can't you trust those who are experts, you guys are still looking for Osama bin Laden. Where is he? The UN (and the much hated Kofi Annan) was right about Iraq, can't have that happen again.
This wanking session ends like this:
It is time to give the Army, the Marines, and, this time, the Air Force, the order: fix bayonets and prepare to charge.
Well, he didn't realize that bayonet charge is pretty much suicidal, i would expect the suiciders to do that. I doubt he has any military experience, would explain his "bold" approach.
A charge in this situation could work just as well as it did for the light brigade.
Someone could remind these guys that you are already bogged down in Iraq and there is no way you can win. In fact, having your troops bogged down on one front and then opening a new front is something that the Germans have tried before..
Sadly Iran has a leader who is as nuts as Hinderaker.
Hinderaker has been wrong, is wrong and will be wrong in the future.
