The first item on the agenda is to wish y'all a very Merry Christmas. Here's hoping that Santa made it to your House OK last night and that if you've been naughty he didn't figure it out until he was on the way back to the North Pole.
The new Pope reached into the gospel to come up with a Christmas message about ending prejudices and "suffering the little children to come unto me". That's my take on it anyway. As much as I hate agreeing with the Pope, he's got me there. He's also got a head start on us as Rome is 6 hours ahead of us here on the Beast coast of the US.
So, here we go...
Florida Kossacks Rock
Here on "Florida's Left Coast there's a town with the most" (from You'll Never Beat St. Pete, as performed by the incomparable Tommy Wareham Live at Ten Beach Drive), it is a cloudy Christmas morning. Not that the joyous spirit of Christmas is in any way diminished. At least for most of us. Let's remember the families separated by service in foreign lands this day, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan. "God Bless you each and every one."
While we are on the best blessed list, let's not forget these good folks:
Everyone on my Personal List (as Mom used to say, "You, you know who you are.")
My personal list includes former Florida First Lady Adele Graham and her husband D. Robert Graham of Miami Lakes, Florida. However they deserve special mention here as well.
Jim and Peggy Davis and their two fine sons. Y'all know why.
Charlie Crist (and all the rest of us Floridians, pray for his success).
Christine Jennings, soon to be the next Member of Congress from the 13th Congressional District of Florida.
Kathy Castor, Ron Klein and Tim Mahoney, the 3 new Dem MC's from Florida.
Godspeed to y'all.
Charlie Justice, Bill Heller, Rick Kriseman and Janet Long, the new Dem members of Pinellas Counties' now 50-50 split delegation to the Florida legislature. God save us from the Republicans.
Dan Sullivan, who is now coaching God on her serve ion the great tennis court in the sky. Coach, you are my personal hero, and you know why.
Chairman Bill Foster and all my friends on the St. Petersburg City Council.
All the vendors at St. Petes' Saturday Morning Market, but especially to my friends Sam and Bonnie. Sam, see if you cain't teach Rick White Knuckles before y'all play again.
I have now entered a note on my CrackBerry as sort of my portable moral compass. Lord knows I need it. My 2007 New Years' resolution will be to look at it frequently until I don't need to look at it to know it anymore.
In case anyone is wondering, I am not listening to traditional holiday music this morning. I've got my own mix going and I'm likin' it. It's my blog , dig?
If anybody can find a central meaning to this meandering stream of consciousness, you win the second prize (2 weeks in Gulfport). First prize was deleted when I dropped the photo (see My Yahoo blog) on you.
Peace on Earth to all of Good Will.
