I'm sorry for sucking as a writer. It's my vocation, but, well, ok, I just suck. I've been struggling with my ideas, and I like Kos, because I can shill my brain here, hoping to get folks to join the ride.
I wrote this stuff below, because I agree we need to reframe a lot of arguments.
I present the few ideas below as reframing what Republicans are, and what they stand for. It's only a start, and it's just too hard for me to put a good rhetorical finger on it...so I've left it unfinished.
I'm happy to accept comments that expand on the ideas. Thanks.
a) Anti-choice, not "pro-life" or part of a "culture of life". They do not respect the idea that people can make up their own minds, and so, it follows logically that they are..
b) Against personal property. They believe that women should not be allowed to control the destiny of their body, no matter what happens to them. They respect the viability of something that is non-viable (an unborn baby) over something that is already viable (the mother).
c) Borrow and Spend economists. They can't balance a checkbook. They are bad managers of money, and so they can't be trusted with our future. It follows logically that they are...
d) Anti-future. It is simple economics that money is better invested, not saved, yet, they are willing to let the wealthy reap the benefits by putting their money into savings, instead of the long tradition of investing wealth for our children. It's dangerous and irresponsible.
e) Anti-military. Badly equipped. Horrific Benefits. Vets ignored.
f) Anti-family. More abortions under Bush. Less of a family safety net, etc etc.
g) Anti-management. There's a long record of people doing a bad job, but not being punished for it. There's a long record of ignoring the consultants and experts on so many different issues.
Add to my list.
