The Most Beautiful Drudge Report Ever

Mon Feb 27, 2006 at 07:00:36 PM PDT

A sign of the times if ever I've seen one.  The top story on Drudge right now:

CBSNEWS POLL: 34% (which links to a CBS News story headlined Poll: Bush Ratings At All-Time Low.

But what's even more amazing is the list of other stories.

  •  I hate to give the guy the traffic (4.00 / 7)

but it's fun to see some bad news for the GOP prominently displayed there for once.

    •  I agree..... (none / 1)

I also hate to give him hits, but there is nothing else quite like it.

Stories often break there first, he often runs stories that are unflattering to Bush, and well then, there are those times when he is clearly taking a cheap shot at some democrat, but still, there is enough there that warrants going there.

    •  Maybe he's switching sides...? (none / 0)

Media tries to stay ahead of the polls to stay popular.  It wouldn't surprise me if he was in the process of switching sides as more of America does so.

So yeah give him traffic when he runs stuff like this.  Positive reinforcement for doing the right thing.

  •  Poll effect (none / 1)

What effect will this poll have on republicans in congress.  If I were them I would move quickly and vote a veto-proof bill to get this out of the news and fast.
  •  And some of those headlines... (none / 0)

    are...gasp... in red letters.

Don't get too worried about traffic to Matt Sludge's site.  I think half of his readers are progressives going there for a quick run-down on the rethug talking points of the day.

  •  Still 1/3rd (1972 type style) of the people (4.00 / 2)

Can be fooled all of the time.

.. The "BUSH NOW ADMITS" headline made me laugh and laugh and laugh... and then cry.

    •  When Cheney shot that dude in the face, (4.00 / 2)

a friend of mine said he laughed to the point of tears for a solid 10 minutes upon hearing the news. Funny story, but by God what does this say about the state of our pcyches these days when we laugh like maniacs at BushCos foibles.

We are all a little bit ca-razy, methinks.

Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel. Relentless!

  •  UBL (4.00 / 3)

Each time UBL does one of those tapes intending to sway an election, I always think of Reagan and how they got the Iranians to not release the hostages until after he won the election against Carter.  In the end, it seems like Rove has UBL on speed dial carrier pigeon and gets him to help Bush win.  His family did invest in Arbusto.  They don't seem to mind backing losing propostions.  As for Mehlman saying Kerry was about his ambition above anything else, like that's different from other politicians, especially Bush/Cheney?

    •  What makes you think (4.00 / 2)

the Bin Laden's lost money?  They weren't investing in oil by giving Bush money.  They were investing in political futures and their investment has paid off splendidly for them.

The Long War is not on Iraq, Afghanistan, or Iran. It is on the American people.

  •  Bin Laden helped Bush (4.00 / 10)

because he wanted him to win.

George W. Bush is the best thing that ever happened to Osama bin Laden...and vice versa.

    •  Exactly; (none / 1)

why wouldn't OBL know he was helping Bush?

This guy masterminded the most successful special op since the Trojan Horse, but we're supposed to believe he "accidentally" helped Bush.

It was selling our enemies short that got us here, and guess who hasn't learned.

  •  how bout this one? (none / 1)

linked to reuters - but if India is gonna be our new best friend, why does Dear Leader need 5,000 people to protect his sorry ass?

Looks like he is #1 on the world's most wanted list.

  •  Begging..please... (none / 0)

don't ever use Beautiful and Drudge in the same sentence again.

  •  See what's happening here: (none / 1)

It's all about self-preservation. Conservatives haven't seen the light, they are dumping ballast, and the first dead weight they are trying to throw overboard is the captain of their Ship of Fools. It's a simple question of maintaining their grip on power. If we keep up the pressure, the question becomes maintaining their relevance.

Don't let up, don't give in. Drive them back to the margins of political thought from whence they came and where they always belonged.

  •  Drudge Report (none / 0)

Is actually a pretty valuable resource.

People love to knock the website but I think it's brilliant and manages to influence media coverage.

Furthermore, as liberals we should hold our noses and visit it once in a while to keep get an early-warning system of what the Republicans are going to be spinning next.
