We scored a
huge victory for clean energy today when the Senate passed the Bingaman-Coleman 10 percent Renewable Electricity Standard amendment by a vote of 52/48!
WOW!!!
St. Pete may try to strip it out in Conference but this is a big victory or renewables.
I will post the vote list as soon as possible so you all can thank and convey dissapointment as appropriate.
Votes of particular interest include:
Nay:
Gregg R-NH
McCain R-AZ (WTF!!?!?)
Allard R-CO
Byrd D-WV (WTF?!?!)
Yay:
Landrieu D-LA
Nelson D-FL
Brownback R-KS
Pryor D-AR
During debate
Sens Bingaman (D-NM), Clinton (D-NY), Jeffords (I-VT), Salazar(D-CO), Dorgan (D-SD) spoke in favor of the amendment.
Sens Domenici R-NM, Alexander R-TN, Craig R-ID spoke in opposition.
Sen. Domenici got unanimous consent to prevent any weakening 2nd degree amendments from being offered.
This strong showing of support will position us well heading into the conference process.
Please be sure to call your Senator and thank them or harass them as the case may be.
I know, three posts on a day. I'll stop here. I dont wanna get my own blog. I like this one. No more. Promise.
