how i loved second city television. i have to admit i looked forward to it more than saturday night live. tremendous talent on that show wrapped around an actual plotline of a mythical television network. john candy played the debonair johnny larue. he was usually to be seen in a smoking jacket with an ascot trying to manipulate the mackenzie brothers or whoever else was around. he didn't really get much respect, he got pretty much the respect that donald trump should get. one of his assignments, which he loathed, was the "street beef" segment. he was forced to get out in the street & ask people, "what's your beef?"
john candy was a great physical comedian. from what i've heard, he was a truly nice man too. he died 12 years ago on march 4th, 1994 at 43. yeah, he was carrying too much weight. still, a gifted comic & i miss him.
