Maybe it's time we thought about preparing a little defense.
I am have been reluctant to post this, but events since the election -- re: the theocratization of America -- compel me to write, and I hope you will respond (I will post this on my page, I Hate Republicans).
Here's the thing: isn't it time we started thinking, just maybe, about arming ourselves? Look at the other side: they are avowed Christian millenialist/dominionists bent on turning this country (and probably the world) into their twisted version of a Christian state.
They have their own army known as the NRA, probably the best armed militia on the planet. They have shown no compunction about launching preemptive wars against any perceived enemy. Some of them have also shown no compunction about killing those they disagree with (e.g., abortion doctors).
Meanwhile, our side continues to believe this is a war of words, a battle to be fought in the town square, the court of public opinion. We are weak, unarmed and unprepared for religious zealots who will stop at nothing to acheive total victory.
Am I wrong? Or do we need to think that perhaps, with their unyielding campaign to take over this nation piece by piece, district by district, they may someday come after all perceived enemies? Gay people, Democrats, drug users, feminists, college professors. Whomever they dislike will be fair game, UNLESS we are prepared.
Don't think a second Civil War is out of the questions: the first one barely ended.
I have no intention right now of getting a gun. I hate them. But maybe that's just what "they" want to hear.
Your thoughts, folks?
