It's been a long time since I've posted a diary, but I've been here everyday, reading and fuming. Reading because I'm addicted to this community, however much the silent member I may be. Fuming because we (the collective American and global "we") have suffered one travesty, injustice, farce, tragedy after another. Sometimes I try to step back and attempt a historical perspective and all I'm left with is this:
these are ugly, ugly times. And who am I most angry at: our Democratic leaders? Ask yourself the same question and I'm guessing most of you feel the same.
So, if you're with me, the questions we're left with are these: What the hell are we going to do about it? and When is it time to abandon this leaderless, rudderless party and start anew?
As usual,
Georgia10 makes a strong, articulate point about our Democratic "leadership":
It's disappointing, though not surprising, that Democrats have not yet embraced censure. Instead, they are expressing "empathy" with Feingold's frustration. The general consensus is to wait until an investigation is over, which is basically like waiting for Godot. Oversight is dead in Intelligence Committee. D-E-A-D. Throw some black roses on the grave of Oversight and let's call it a day, shall we? You know those five stages of grief? Let's just whiz right past denial, anger, bargaining, and depression and move straight to acceptance. Our democracy is dying, and we don't have time to waste.
So, we feel that way about our so-called leaders... that they're waiting for Godot... but couldn't we say the same thing about ourselves?
When will it be time to abandon these fools and start anew? Bring the true Democrats with us and leave the rest.
