OH-3rd Cong District Studebaker (D) challenging Turner (R)

Thu Mar 16, 2006 at 08:15:17 PM PDT

Mike Turner has voted with Tom Delay 94% of the time.

Stephanie Studebaker is concerned about the corruption in Washington. She is worried about the jobs bleeding out of Ohio by the tens of thousands. She believes the NSA wiretapping without a warrant is illegal. She sees the task of balancing the budget as a moral responsibility. She supports a woman's right to choose. I can support Ms. Studebaker 100% and I'm sure most Ohio Kossaks can as well.

Studebaker for Congress

Here's a quote from her website that I especially appreciate:
It's a fact that more than 1/3 of our children lack the basic skills needed to learn how to read when they enter kindergarten. Also, the majority of a child's brain develops before the age of five. But nearly all of the money we now spend on education is spent after the child has reached the age of five. It is our moral obligation to serve as our children's guide, and better educate them, early on, for life.

Ms. Studebaker is a member of the reality-based community and will vote accordingly. She is the kind of congressperson we desperately need in 2006. I have contributed what I could, and will be walking my neighborhood for her.

Her campaign informed me that the Republicans believe Ms. Studebaker will be competitive against Turner. They sent me information about the Republican SHROMP (Sophomores Retaining Our Majority Program), which helps second-term lawmakers facing competitive races.
Cole contributing to GOP sophomores

Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) will distribute more than $225,000 to five second-term lawmakers today at an event at the Capitol Hill Club.

Republican Reps. Chris Chocola (Ind.), Jim Gerlach (Pa.), Tim Murphy (Pa.), Jon Porter (Nev.) and Michael Turner (Ohio), all sophomores, will benefit from Cole's efforts.

The following quote is taken from an email I received from Ms. Studebaker's campaign today.

The coming weeks are extremely important to the fight for our future. March 31st is the last deadline for filing with Federal Election Commission (FEC). A public disclosure of our fundraising efforts is required by law after this date, and our campaign's ability to compete against the Congressman will be judged from these numbers.

Are there any Ohio 3rd Congressional District Kossaks who can help Ms. Studebaker's campaign with a donation?

I will post the occasional diary about Ms. Studebaker's campaign.

  •  Hope she focuses on the first thing you listed. (0+ / 0-)

The other things aren't going to get votes in that district (and in the case of abortion, might turn them away). Frankly, though, if you live in OH-3 and not in the Dayton area and have time to volunteer, you live relatively close to OH-1, OH-15, or OH-18, which will be competitive, so you should get yourself to one of those three districts at least on election day for GOTV.
