Has anyone else been keeping tabs on the way conservative bloggers are responding to their current House Majority Leader's race? If not, here is a quick impression:
"Waaaaahhhhh. Waaaaaaah. Why won't you worship us? Waaaaaaah."
In the last two weeks, I have watched with great amusement and glee as Red State and other conservative blogs have turned on their own party and begun to throw a 1st class temper tantrum because the mainstream of their party is simply ignoring them on the Majority Leader's race. It has been hilarious to see the increasing desperation of these conservative bloggers as they lash out against the leaders of their own party, even helping us liberals out by using talking points from liberal websites to trash their future leaders.
I love Daily Kos and the blogosphere in general, for our ability to demand change, critique our leaders, and make sure our own party stays responsible, on message, and fighting for our values. Increasingly Democratic leaders have seen the power blogs bring to the progressive movement. However, Conservative blogs, once considered simply an "echo chamber" for the rest of the party, are throwing quite the fit now that their party isn't listening to them.
At issue, the Majority Leader's race, where most conservative bloggers seem to have endorsed John Shadegg. However, Roy Blunt quickly locked up the support of around 100 Congressmen, and still seems to be the odds on favorite to win the position.
Since whomever wins, is going to be the parties representative, one would think Red State and other bloggers would be stressing the positives of Shadegg and debating the merits of the issues right? Wrong. Instead they are whining about not getting to ask a question of Blunt on his conference call with bloggers Red State Whines, attacking him with talking points from a LIBERAL activist site, Making our attacks for us, and engaging in petty sniping with Blunt's spokesperson Bicker, Bicker, Bicker
Does it get any better than this? Not only are these guys totally out-of-touch with their parties Congressmen, they look petty and ridiculous for the way they are whining. Not only that, they are saving us on the left loads of time and energy by repeating liberal talking points and devouring their own!!!!
Regardless of the outcome of this Majority Leader's race, it has been well worth it to watch the Conservative blogosphere's heads grow so big that they pop under the weight of their own self-importance.
