Hey Dem Leaders: tax incentives for Alt. Energy is popular!

Mon Mar 27, 2006 at 01:20:00 PM PDT

The new Democracy Corps poll is out.  I've spent considerable time digging into it, and I found something to warm the hearts of all environmentalists.  The issue
Create tax incentives for alternative energy/wind/solar/biofuel
polled as significantly more important than "Implement the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission / inspecting 100% of containers".

WAKE UP DEM LEADERS: GET AHEAD OF THE ALT ENERGY CURVE BEFORE THE REPUBLICANS STEAL IT FROM US!

Let me repeat: Alternative Energy is more important in voters' minds than port security.  Hello?  Hello?  Are any of you dumbass Dem consultants listening...?

Polling data below.

Q.65 (SPLIT F) Thinking about that list, what TWO stood out as most important to you?

Block any pay raise for Congress until the incomes
of average workers begin to rise...................................44

Create tax incentives for alternative energy/wind, solar, biofuel............................................................30

Create a bi-partisan commission mandated to reduce the
federal budget deficit.............................................28

Implement all the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission
/inspecting 100 percent of containers..............................26

Repeal the cuts in student loan programs and
tax breaks for college costs.......................................25

Replace drug plan and control costs................................21

Note also the other takehome here: restricting congressional salaries is extremely popular.  Somehow though, I doubt any politician is likely to put that to the fore...

Poll

Is there political mileage for Dems in the Environment Issue, despite the current "Security" zeitgeist?

  •  Seems like a No-Brainer (0+ / 0-)

since Global Warming is a hot topic now..and we KNOW GOP is weak there

  •  Carter tried it in the late 70's (0+ / 0-)

Reagan shot it down as quick as he could after he was inaugerated-and tore the solar panels off the White House.

A lot of people tried solar panels, alternative energy sources at the time and took the credits. Those who didn't invest in it, did have an opportunity to look into it.

  •  Create tax incentives ? (0+ / 0-)

    No.

Another way to subsidize big business.

After we give them money to create new fuels, what happens?

    1. they don't pay it back
    1. they make even more money
    1. they are in control of yet more resources
    1. they outsource the work overseas
    1. they sell the information to other countries
    1. they gouge the customer even more
    1. they request government laws to prevent any little person from participating
    1. - do you see where this is going? It's a no brainer in the truly classic American tradition. It's known as citizen stupidity.

Storing water underground from lines installed upon a roof top,  - where did this idea come from? Big business? No. Little business? No. Government? No.

Guess all you want but the answer is, - a farmer that build his own house up in the North East USA.

Then, the government after making a big deal about how it couldn't be done finally tested his home. What they don't tell you is, they waited for a period whereas the sun didn't shine for 5 straight days. Guess what? It passed their shitty test.

No to big business. No to the corporate sonofbitches that are outsourcing our jobs. No to the ass holes that are buying Congress. no to the businesses insourcing low wages. No to the corporations moving to China. NO NO NO NO NO

WAKE UP DEM LEADERS?  Where are they? We have leaders? There's 32,000 lobbyists in Washington DC.

Do you really believe they all work with republicans only?  LMAO.......
