We all know Sean Hannity is a bully and a hypocrite. He would (perhaps has) believe it no big deal that newspapers are printing comics offensive to Muslims, but oh THE OUTRAGE that Tom Toles has caused with
this comic! Anyone with critical thinking faculties can see that this comic is not in any way meant to disparage our troops or amputees! And Hannity brings on Ted Rall (while Colmes sits still as a statue) and verbally berates him (about his Pat Tillman comic from two years ago), shouting him down and not giving him a chance to even speak (a tactic beloved by Bill O'Reilly as well of course)...
The joint chiefs of staff have even written
a letter also showing their outrage:
The letter, written on Tuesday, charges that the six military leaders "believe you and Mr. Toles have done a disservice to your readers and your paper's reputation by using such a callous depiction of those who have volunteered to defend this nation, and as a result, have suffered traumatic and life-altering wounds. ... As the Joint Chiefs, it is rare that we all put our hand to one letter, but we cannot let this reprehensible cartoon go unanswered."
The right isn't outraged by the disasterous policies of the civilians in charge of the military policy or by Rumsfeld's warped statements that the overstretched military is "battle-hardened"...why, to admit the military isn't populated by robotic supermen who are never overworked and overstressed...why you must hate the troops! Does the media count the numbers of wounded (amputees are still alive so they aren't added to the war dead counts obviously) the way they do the dead? Nobody reports the much greater numbers of soldiers who aren't dead but whose lives have been destroyed physically and mentally by a war planned before the excuses were concocted to justify it. Where's the outrage THERE?!!
