So, sorta-super-Tuesday is interesting and all, but what about
the issues. You know...
THE ISSUES!
I think at the hands of the media we often lose sight of the issues of the election in favor of talking about everyone's strategy and their chances and blah, blah, blah. They turn the election into a horse race.
But even though it's election day, Dean is still talking about the issues which he has been standing up for since the very beginning...
TACOMA, WA--Democratic presidential candidate Governor Howard Dean, M.D., issued the following statement about the increasing cost of the Iraq war and new revelations of war profiteering:
"Little did we know that the real 'Shock and Awe' campaign being conducted by the Bush administration was right here at home.
"Are we shocked any more that the Bush Administration pushed the price tag for this war above $200 billion yesterday?
"Are we in awe that the latest $50 billion for the war will come on top of the outrageous half-trillion dollar deficit the President is already
running up next year?
"Are we shocked that large corporate interests close to the President are making out like bandits? That on top of overcharging for gas and engaging in kickbacks, Halliburton now stands accused of overcharging the U.S. military $16 million for meals?
"No, the real shock and awe is that too many in Washington failed to stand up to the President to stop this misguided war in the first
place, failed to ask the tough questions when funding it, and today fail to launch the necessary investigations into the manipulation of intelligence, the misleading of the American people and the excessive war profiteering that has run rampant through this whole war."L
Dean has stood up to the war since Day 1, but where has Kerry been? Someone the other day said it better than I could -- Kerry seems to have |insert tongue in cheek| 57 Varieties of his position on Iraq -- but it just doesn't seem to make a difference?
How can Kerry's flip-flopping on the Iraq War make him a strong candidate on issues of National Security? How can we possibly nominate him to represent the party if he cant even decide where he stands.
We cannot campaign against Bush on the premise of national security with a guy who gave the president premission to go to war.
And if you think otherwise... Bring it on.
