Someone on this site that the idea for Bush to get out of this would be to blame Nagin and Blanco and looters in New Orleans for all this. After all, he is all about having the "Pass the buck administration". However, what a lot of people are not realizing is, this is more than just a New Orleans problem. This is a good chunk of the very Republican Gulf Coast. Plus we have focused much on the disgraceful way those 100,000 plus folks are being treated in New Orleans. What about the other 500,000 or so who have left and are probably overwhelming neighboring states? What about gas prices skyrocketing across the nation?
Don't forget that most people across the country know someone who was affected or know a friend of someone who was affected. Now I suspect that the right wing may try and attack Nagin and Blanco (and possibly Landrieu, hell they might as well attack Hale Boggs and Huey Long while they're at it) but that will not work. Why? Because most Americans don't know who they are unless they're political junkies like us. And yeah, I know that some brilliant reporters will try and blame Cindy Sheehan for this but even the most right wing pundits can see the horrific destruction for themselves. People will not defend a president who lets corpses lie in the streets.
