Yesterday I asked all you guru's to prognosticate regarding the new spine grown by the US msm (NY Times notwithstanding). I wondered if many of you thought this reflected a public/media alignment and what it all might mean, in objective political terms, or as objective as you could make it. I've been traveling through Europe since mid-November and am heartened by the challenges of several EU countries regarding the CIA spy flights. And I was heartened to see the US media hitting at the prez hard in the past 2-3 weeks.
I was surprised by the comments -I'm not sure I'm convinced yet...please let me know what you think...

It all comes down to 11/06 now. (none / 0)
If Repukes keep both Houses of Congress after this year, just kiss it all goodbye. We not only won't save America, it won't be worth saving.

something better to do than kiss it all goodbye? (none / 0)
We not only won't save America, it won't be worth saving.
Start country-shopping. If a nation has decided to go the lemming route, you are not obligated to go over the cliff with them. If America can't figure out that the GOP is unfit to govern by 2006, it isn't worth saving.
However, actually saving America means that GOP (aka corporate) economic policies aren't just going to have to be implemented competently or with kinder, gentler rhetoric, they're going to have to be reversed.
I don't see DLCers in government either in Congress or the White House doing this.
If Hillary or any other DLCer is the Democratic nominee in 2008, I intend to vote for her absentee from somewhere other than America.

..we all need.. (none / 0)
..to start thinking about how much abuse we want to take. My ancestors immigrated to the US in the late 19th century from Norway, France and Scotland where they had been for millenia. After 100 years here, it may be time to go home..

umm... (none / 0)
CNN's poll of the day shows that 31% of people think that the government should have the right to spy on its own citizens without warrants.
I'm thinking that, while the tide may be turning a bit in our favor for '06, it will not be an easy fight. And that the "center" has moved to the right of Atilla the Hun for the foreseeable future.
Do not be overwhelmed by the enormity of the world's grief...You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.
