According to news stories that I have read on yahoo.com and other sources, the public is already tired of the negative campaign betweeen Bush and Kerry. However, the public seems to be blaming Kerry and not Bush. According to this poll and article, Kerry's negatives have shot up 10 pts, to put them about level with his positives, and his lead nationally has disappeared into a dead heat.
How can Democrats fix this? There is a long time til election day. However, with Kerry taking a bigger hit than Bush over even the Clarke fiasco, one has to wonder why. Clarke has stated, under oath, that he will not accept a job in Kerry's White House. Why is Kerry losing the PR game more than Bush? Bush's stance on National Security has dropped 9 points, which is good. But its' still at 57%. Kerry needs to reverse this, and do it fast. This is a big opportunity, but unfortunately, right now, voters seem to be blaming him rather than Bush for this whole mess.
