I spent most of my weekend watching World Cup games and screaming at referees, players, and fans for misplacing blame. Today, I read on the
TPM Muckraker and eventually
The Raw Story that at least 11 people emailed profane and/or threatening emails to addresses of the webmaster of
murthalied.com and
bootmurtha.com, a website intended to talk about whatever it is that Murtha talks about. The website itself hadn't even been created or content published, but these emails went out anyway.
Though it may only be obvious to me, it's the freakin' webmaster. What's she going to do, take the site down and lose business? Her actions show that she's made of sterner stuff than to be shaken away by the immature blogreaders of America. I wish her the best even though she's hosting a site that, I believe, will smear a fine senator congressman.
Second, how much bullshit press do we need before we lose another election?
Someone even sent in two emails that reached the same person! "Blogosphere rallies behind the democrats, calls website administrators whores, eats children for breakfast." Exaggerated tagline, but the GOP is crafty; a few choice words and the same meaning could show itself with different clothes.
Lastly, of course it would be Democrats showing discontent with a website -- the GOP doesn't believe in the power of the Internet, and it certainly wouldn't use a simple website to smear Democrats when it controls the mass media, newspapers, and Presidential press conferences.
I'm not for swift boating, but I think a lot of emails should be sent to retired Navy Captain Larry Bailey instead, though I don't have his email address. Which blogs posted the address information, and why are its readers acting like twelve-year-olds?
