Hello all:
Just a brief update to all... I'm happy to report that the provincial governments of British Columbia and Ontario have announced today they are donating money directly to the Canadian Red Cross for tsunami disaster relief. BC is giving 8 million dollars to the Red Cross, Ontario is giving 5 million dollars. More provincial governments are expected to follow suit soon.
Total aid so far coming from governments in Canada now total 53 million $ Cdn (almost 44 million $ US) 40 million from the federal government of Canada, 13 million from the provincial governments, with that total expected to rise (there are 10 provincial governments and 3 territorial governments in Canada).
I earnestly hope that we will hear some state governments in the US doing the same thing. I hope anyone on here will post such news from their own state government if they hear such good news.
