On January 25, there was a story about how Joe Lieberman
couldn't get the administration to cooperate with with the Katrina investigation. Where did it go?
This is a great weapon to use against Bush, but it was hardly discussed here. There were a couple posts, but few responses.
Bush told us he wanted to know "what went right and what went wrong," and now he's stalling the investigation. The public really needs to know about that and be kept up to date on it. It was outrageous enough that Bush twiddled his thumbs while New Orleans flooded, but now he's trying to prevent Americans from finding out what REALLY went wrong. And on top of that, the coverup is going to go under the public's radar.
Americans deserve to know the truth about how the administration responded to Katrina so that they can feel the appropriate emotions toward them. But if Bush gets his way, Americans will never know. So how do we keep Bush from getting his way?
I think the administration's response to Katrina should be impeachable. It was certainly criminal negligence of the kind you don't see every day. We need to stop thinking about impeaching for one issue only and broaden our view. This oaf in office is impeachable on multiple counts; the problem is that Republicans control the media megaphones and therefore keep that a secret.
It needs to not be a secret that Bush is stalling the Katrina investigation. Every American needs to know that. That whole story about how Bush dropped the ball and is now trying to cover it up needs to be put before Americans so that they can respond in an appropriate fashion.
