I saw speculation yesterday about whether or not Dean himself would use Damon's $300 front pocket, $500 back pocket line. Today he used a form of it in a statement
denouncing Bush's economic priorities:
Think about it: the Bush administration is giving you a few hundred dollars with one hand, while taking many hundreds more out of the other. That's not a tax cut -- it's the Bush Tax, brought about by shifting the burden of paying for necessary services to state and local governments, which have nowhere to turn but to their taxpayers.
I actually like Damon's formulation better -- it's more powerful because it's more precise -- but perhaps Dean is using the vague terminology so he can't be caught in a "gaffe".
