I'm here in Houston. I'm concentrating on preparing the house and we're almost done. But I am seeing another challenge before me that I am more concerned about.
The transportation situation out of Houston is a disaster waiting to happen. There is not enough gas to go around. But what is worse is that cars have been stuck in traffic on the freeways for many many hours, and many of them are running out of fuel.
I think I am going to need help. There are no fuel trucks enroute to help these vehicles on the freeways. People are running out of gas and cars are overheating because without wind coming into the engine they aren't getting cooled properly.
I don't believe in the CONTRAFLOW plan they are putting in place on the freeways. Houston has 3 freeways they are opening up both sides of the median to outbound only. But the problem is that it is only going for about 70 miles at most (as well as I can determine) from Houston.
ITS NOT GOING TO WORK! And if I'm wrong, I would rather be safe than sorry.
There is no place for this traffic to go!! 70 miles from houston there is nothing. I am a programmer and I have been tinkering with traffic simulators in the past several years. I am working on one myself using a model I have come up. I have a sense about these things. I watch traffic with almost as much interest as I did girls when I was younger.
They are doing nothing more than creating a 70 mile long parking lot.
I need people to contact my congressman,
John Culberson, (202) 225-2571
and Senators,
Kay Baily Hutchinson, (202) 224-5922,
and Jon Corzine, (202) 224-4744,
to create some noise about this situation. PLEASE DON'T CALL ANY OF THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES.
The contraflow needs to opened ALL THE WAY to DALLAS on I-45, AUSTIN on State Hwy 290, and SAN ANTONIO on I-10.
I DON'T TRUST THEM!!
