Daily Kos

We need support for Ford Jr.

OK Kos here's is my rant.

I found this on Blogging for Corker Site

http://bloggingforcorker.com/...

The Daily Kos, vacation home of liberal extremists once they leave the safe confines of Democratic Underground, has weighed in on the Tennessee Senate race

Can Harold Ford, Jr., beat Bob Corker for the US Senate seat in Tennessee? I've been saying "No" to that question because I just don't see a Red state like Tennessee electing a "Republican-lite" when they can elect a real Republican.

What does Ford offer that Corker doesn't? The answers: a) a step towards a Democratic majority, b) he's pro-choice, c) he's pro-stem cell research, d) he's anti-CAFTA, e) he's for alternative energy. Okay, he's got my vote. But the rest of Tennessee isn't going to be impressed by these issues.

No, Tennessee isn't impressed. I see a Bush-Kerry margin in his future. But despite his liberal voting record, Ford isn't liberal enough for the Kos. No surprise, really. They aren't truly interested in winning elections - we know that.

But I do hope that Kos continues to speak on behalf of Ford.

Please stop giving our opponent foder.

Bob Corker is worst than Bill First and is wrong for Tennessee and the nation.

Support Ford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  •  Here's all I'm going to say... (0+ / 0-)

Someone needs to pay me $1,000 before I can afford to support Ford.

  •  That wasn't Kos (0+ / 0-)

If you follow the link posted at that blog, you'll see that it goes to a diary by a user named R o o k.      I always try to check that because most Republicans are too stupid to understand that anyone can write a diary at this website without editorial control from Kos.

In any case, even though this is an important race for Democrats to win, I don't think it's a good idea for Kos to get too involved in it.  This community doesn't have as much pull in TN as it does in places like CT or even VA.

    •  Not only was it not Kos... (0+ / 0-)

...but it also wasn't "on behalf of" the Ford campaign.  It was just me and my opinion.

Even more irritating is the part about Kossacks not being interested in winning.  The entire post was about HOW to win.  But of course they weren't trying to accurately represent my words - they just wanted to grab a couple of lines out of context for their own spin purposes.

And I'm okay with that.  It's politics.  It happens.  I'm kind of flattered to be used out of context.

Which leads me to my response to this diary.  I wasn't providing ammo to the opposition; I was providing a playbook for winning against Corker.  And I'm not going to be afraid to keep speaking my opinions on this website because they might be hacked up and used out of context elsewhere.

So I stand by my original post: Ford and Corker are too similar for Ford to win over enough of Tennessee's swing voters. Therefore, we (the netroots) should focus on reminding hardcore "Christian" Republicans that Corker isn't really one of them, so they won't be motivate to donate or to GOTV.

I support Ford for Senate is because he is technically a Democrat and we need such technicalities to technically have a Senate majority. But a lot of his positions are horrible. Like favoring the flag burning amendment, that horrible bankruptcy bill, lifting the hand gun ban in D.C. and posting the 10 commandments in every courtroom in Tennessee.
