Shuster and Santorum on Hardball

Mon Aug 21, 2006 at 02:13:33 PM PDT

OK, this is a brief diary, but I doubt my comment in the last Open Thread is going to be read by anyone.  On Hardball now, Little Ricky is bombing under some tough, though occasionally confused, questioning by Tweety.
And David Shuster opened the program with an excellent analysis of the pathetic Bush news conference.  He even concentrates on Bush's admission that Sadaam had "nothing" to do with 9/11, and his lame "except for" addendum. (For the video see Bob Johnson's diary on the rec list.)

Harold Ford coming soon.  Watch if you can stomach it, or catch the complete rerun.

  •  Ricky claims Tweety is biased. (16+ / 0-)

He throws Matthews' Democratic "background" up to him.  And Matthews swats that away with great ease.

Says hell had his volunteers collect signatures for the Greens.  Asked his volunteers to volunteer for the Greens.  The Green party just became a wing of the GOP Party.

I love Shuster --he does a bang-up job sometimes, far better than anyone else. Funny to have Tweety called biased by someone on the right, hey?

I'm glad they're panning that presser because Bush seemed so pleased with himself for being so congenial with the press gang. Next time he's going to hug them he said. Really! Next time maybe Helen Thomas will follow him, like she did in the Colbert video at the press dinner.....!

  •  Last week (11+ / 0-)

on Thursday (I think) I watched Tweety and he was really down on Bush (apparently he has seen the tide change and wants to bi with the crowd).  Anyway, he made the comment (paraphrased) "when are the voters going to stop 'bootlicking' and vote these guys out of office" .  I found that comment quite ironic considering all the ass-kissing Tweety has been doing the last three years.  Wonder when the media is going to quit "bootlicking" and start investigating and reporting?

It brings up the persistent issue that libs have about whether to acknowledge that someone has seen at least a little bit of light, or to continue to condemn him forever for being such a tool.  In Tweety's case, I think a little frank self analysis on the show confronting some of his asskissing would go a long way toward redeeming him among many dKossers. Others will never again watch him, even on a day like today, when the show is especially tight and relevant to this site's concerns, and that's understandable.  Too bad for MSNBC, which needs every viewer it can find.

he is now an Independent?  I believe I did!  Well well well.

    •  No more 'Bush has a sunny nobility' (0+ / 0-)

about him' comments? Or comments on how 'manly' he looks in his various costumes, Tweety's favorite being the flight suit?

I remember CM droning embarrassinly on comparing Bush to other, ('liberals' of course), politicians, including war heroes John Kerry and Sen. McGovern.

Amazingly he declared that they could never get away with 'dressing up in that suit' the way Bush could, and look as 'manly' as did. He couldn't imagine them in military gear! Never mind that Sen. McGovern actually did and not just for a photo op.

I haven't seen him in months, couldn't take the drooling anymore, or his attacks on Democrats. I came to the conclusion that he was losing his mind.

Maybe he's just paid to promote whoever the chosen leader is. If so, this is bad news for Bush since Joe Scarborough is doing it also. The spell has been broken, it seems.

It can't have taken them this long to reach these conclusions, can it?  Maybe I give people too much credit in the intelligence department.

"If I knew then what I know now" -- is this the first time he's said it?  And then he sorta steps on it by saying he doubts Bush would have gone in if he hadn't also been fooled. Perhaps just being gallant, but I don't believe it.

Other than that, I didn't pick up on it, but he did make a fleeting reference to "recent poll numbers," which might refer to some campaign surveys.

to drop another "scandal bomb" on Corker, his opponent in the TN race.  Did you hear what he said about his mother always told him not to repeat something bad about someone, just say, "God Bless Him" and let it go at that?  I heard Corker's about to get nailed on a 4.7 million dollar land deal he made with WalMart there in TN.
