Republicans are WEAK on terror. - Proof!

Fri Aug 25, 2006 at 10:23:52 AM PDT

OK, everyone and their dog has now seen Ann Coulter get her scawny ass kicked by Kirsten Powers on Fox.

Waaayyy too funny.

But aside from the health benefits of a good belly-laugh from seeing "poor little Annie" whining for help, looking back and forth and flicking her hair back as if to say "help, I'm a girl, someone please HELP ME", and acting like the poor victim of the liberals she loves to pour hate on, how can we use this to our advantage?

I'll tell you how.

She slipped up and blurted out a searing truth that we need to pound into the head of every uninformed dipshit in the country.

Bush (and right-wing morons like Ann Coulter) could care less if we catch a mass murderer. They are by definition WEAK on terror...

First, we need to remember what the problem is: We have a public that's so uninformed and misinformed that they think Osama bin Laden was in cahoots with Saddam Hussein. They think we found WMDs in Iraq. They don't know Republicans control both houses.

In other words, they have no idea what's going on. Literally. They need our help, because, unfortunately, they vote. They take their uninformed (or worse, Faux-informed) asses to the polls and they vote for the Republicans.

It's hard to inform someone who pretty much doesn't have a single clue what's going on. But we now have a simple tool, and a simple message:

Watch the video. See how much Ann Coulter cares about whether we catch a guy who killed 3,000 Americans and cost us all Trillions of dollars (the cost of the GWOT).

She. Doesn't. CARE.

Here's what she says: (at 1:00 into the video)

...umm, As for catching Osama, umm, it's irrelevant...

...I mean, he's like a fading movie star...

Got that?
"He's like a fading movie star", so catching him or killing him is "irrelevant".

Meanwhile, back in reality...

Poll: Most think bin Laden planning another U.S. attack

Wednesday, August 23, 2006; Posted: 9:06 p.m. EDT (01:06 GMT)

(CNN) -- As the five-year anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks approaches, nearly three-fourths of those responding to a CNN poll said they believe Osama bin Laden is planning another significant attack against the United States...

So a huge majority of Americans think the "fading movie star" is plotting a major terrorist attack, but Ann Coulter says catching or killing him is "irrelevant."

THAT ought to get her kicked off the air. But where would she get such an idea? MAYBE FROM BUSH?...

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

Video works. It penetrates the mind in ways that printed or spoken words cannot. You know what to do. Show your wingnut friends the video, and send them the Bush quotes. Watch their brain heat up. Provide facts to keep them moving in the right direction...

    I think you're so right.

She (and the Wrong Wing) should be hit with this all day, every day, until the election.

Last month, we found out that the CIA disbanded its Bin Laden unit, called "Alec Station," late last year.

Michael Scheuer, a former senior C.I.A. official who was the first head of the unit, said the move reflected a view within the agency that Mr. bin Laden was no longer the threat he once was.

Mr. Scheuer said that view was mistaken.

    the Bush quotes?

I know some people who won't believe anything they can't watch on a screen, and not even most of that.

Jumping on the politicalcompass.org bandwagon: (-3.63, -3.03) - Does that make me part of the right wing here?

the whitehouse has video and transcripts. I'm not sure where all the quotes came from.

Q    Mr. President, in your speeches now you rarely talk or mention Osama bin Laden.  Why is that?  Also, can you tell the American people if you have any more information, if you know if he is dead or alive?  Final part  --  deep in your heart, don't you truly believe that until you find out if he is dead or alive, you won't really eliminate the threat of  --

THE PRESIDENT:  Deep in my heart I know the man is on the run, if he's alive at all.  Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not; we haven't heard from him in a long time.  And the idea of focusing on one person is --  really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission.

Terror is bigger than one person.  And he's just  --  he's a person who's now been marginalized.  His network, his host government has been destroyed.  He's the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match.  He is  --  as I mentioned in my speech, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death and he, himself, tries to hide  --  if, in fact, he's hiding at all.

So I don't know where he is.  You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you.  I'm more worried about making sure that our soldiers are well-supplied; that the strategy is clear; that the coalition is strong; that when we find enemy bunched up like we did in Shahikot Mountains, that the military has all the support it needs to go in and do the job, which they did.

And there will be other battles in Afghanistan.  There's going to be other struggles like Shahikot, and I'm just as confident about the outcome of those future battles as I was about Shahikot, where our soldiers are performing brilliantly.  We're tough, we're strong, they're well-equipped. We have a good strategy.  We are showing the world we know how to fight a guerrilla war with conventional means.

Q    But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him.  And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure.  And, again, I don't know where he is.  I  --  I'll repeat what I said.  I truly am not that concerned about him.  I know he is on the run.  I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country.  I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban.

But once we set out the policy and started executing the plan, he became  --  we shoved him out more and more on the margins.  He has no place to train his al Qaeda killers anymore...

We should also debunk the attempt to blame Clinton.  I haven't found a transcript yet, but I believe the harpy said that bin Laden

was handed to Bill Clinton twice, and Clinton said no

This is another standard GOP talking point to deflect criticism about bin Laden.  Apparently it was first raised on NewsMax. Go figure.

Anyways, here's a link to the MediaMatter article that deals with this issue. Notice the link to the 9/11 Commission that found no evidence to support the claim.

Once it's established that Coulter and Bush don't care if bin Laden is caught or killed, they have no credibility. So who cares if some gasbag says Clinton let bin Laden get away?

Don't get bogged down in the details. Stick with the facts as they can be agreed upon.

The video proves Coulter is a poser about the war on terror. Bush's words do the same.

I wouldn't waste time trying to undo the Clinton-hatred, it goes to the bone in some people.

It just bugs me how formulaic their "arguments" are.

        Sad, but soooo true.

It would make a great MoveOn commercial, the transition from "Dead or Alive" to closing down the CIA unit looking for him.
